Acute pain is something we have all experienced. It is when we burn ourselves on a hot iron or what we experience when we

fall over and sustain a cut, strain or sprain. Acute pain subsides over time as the body heals.

Chronic pain is persistent pain that lasts for longer than three months.

Living with chronic pain is often debilitating and stressful. And while the pain may never be completely eradicated all options for managing your pain should be thoroughly discussed with your GP to find a solution that works best for you.

There are a number of strategies GP’s can use to assist people to better manage their chronic pain and this may include the prescription of medicinal cannabis where it is deemed appropriate.

If you suffer chronic pain, ensure you speak to your GP to thoroughly explore all options available.
